Transport Pricing Methodology

With transport emissions increasing at a faster rate than emissions in other sectors, mitigation action is urgently needed. Pricing policies can be an important lever to bring about change in the transport sector.

The Transport Pricing Methodology helps policymakers assess the impacts of pricing policies in the transport sector and improve their effectiveness. The methodology applies to the following pricing instruments:

• fuel subsidies
• fuel taxes and levies
• road pricing
• purchase incentives for more efficient vehicles
